After thinking about a plan for some time of how to systematically go through all my past blog posts and either spruce up or delete them, I think I’ve finally come up with a plan.
I got a fancy new corkboard from a friend who is working on purging her house and so now, next to my desk is a gigantic corkboard. I think the easiest thing for me to do will be to print out a list of ALL 200+ blog posts (that’s not intimidating, right???) and start at the beginning and work my way forward.
I’ve thought about categories and tags, and I think I plan to simplify those as well – I think I’ll have Book Reviews (all reviews will be categorized like this, not “What I’m Reading” for old books and “Reviews” for new books so that will be easier searching), then all these type of posts will be considered Musings, and then I can categorize my own writing by Short Stories or Serial Story or Poetry. I think that having 5 categories of blog posts will be easier on me and on you, especially if you want to search.
So, step 1: Print. Step 2: Disciplined and systematic work.
This make this gigantic task feel manageable and tangible instead of overwhelming and ethereal.
I suspect that I’ll be rather more absent around here with NEW story content for a while, but I’ve got book reviews already lined up and scheduled for months (I’ve been reading a lot), but I hope to pop in here at least every two weeks with a progress report.
I actually am pretty excited to revamp my blog posts.
I’m not sure that I’ll do anything with the site itself, but we’ll see. I’ve had many visitors tell me that this site is easy to navigate, which is HIGHLY VALUED to me, especially since I’ve spent more time than I care to remember slogging through user-unfriendly websites.
So, that’s what’s going on.
