Poetry: In The Dark

Place me here in the Dark
Into a world where there is no light
Into a world where I can’t see
I trip
I stumble
I fall

Place me here in the Dark
My eyes are blind
My actions rewind
I cannot tell what to do or where to go
Where the games are all for show

Place me here in the Dark
Alone and waiting
The times are changing
Nothing is staying
I cry
I shout
I scream

Place me here in the Dark
I breathe faster
I linger longer
My legs are lead
My heart pounds heavy inside my chest
Sweat on my brow
Where do I go now

Take me out of the Dark
I can’t handle it any longer
I want to see the sun
More than just in my mind’s eye
I want to see it hover in the sky
Spin around faster

Take me out of the Dark
Where the brightness blinds
I’m out of my mind
Until my eyes adjust

Take me out of the Dark
I see my footsteps
Sure and steady and true
I reach out
Avoid the pitfalls
Stay on my feet
I will not retreat back into the Dark

Take me out of the Dark
Illuminate my path and show me the way
How can I know where I’m going
If I don’t know where I’ve been
I’ve only been living in the darkest night
I’m calling out to receive my sight
Everywhere I look my eyes are right
I’ve grown weary of this black fight
So I cry
I yell
I scream
I beg
Bring me into the Light
